Student Service Learning

Hands On Science welcomes student volunteers to assist instructors for after school programs in elementary schools throughout Montgomery County. Each class is held one hour per week for eight weeks and generally begins around 3 PM.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending an orientation workshop prior to volunteering
• Showing up to volunteer on time
• Assisting the instructor in working with children at an elementary school
• Helping to prepare, set up and distribute materials for the activities of the day
• Organizing the materials collected at the end of each class
• Helping to ensure the classroom is left in an orderly fashion
